"Shut Up"

I went to the store to buy a tongue

I found the tongue

I bought the tongue

Brought it home

There it was sewn

Now it can be called my own

I talked all day

I laughed all day

I learned to speak a language today

And when I spoke

I told a joke

Really seemed to put off some folks

But why so sad

My tongue's gone mad

It's the first and only one I've had

It caused a fight

Do worse? It might

So down and hard I gave it a bite

Then I left my home

And I never let go

I hope they know it was not my own

Back at the store

I won't keep it anymore

They took it away and the pain I ignored

Nothing compares

Not the bite or the snares

To having a gift then returning my share

It was fun while I talked

Then it suddenly stopped

When I spoke of all the things I thought

Maybe instead

I'll buy ears for my head

So I can follow the folks, never be misled

Forget the tongue

It'll be missed by no one

A woman with words is really no fun.
